Holocaust Museum Houston
Located in the Museum District is the Holocaust Museum Houston. Educating people about the atrocities committed during the Holocaust and the importance of never forgetting such an event, the Holocaust Museum Houston is the perfect place to honor the lives lost and teach others about the dangers of hatred, prejudice, and intolerance.
For members, children, students, and college students (with I.D.), admission is free. Otherwise, the cost is $12 per person or $8 per person with an active-duty military, seniors 65+, and AARP members (all with valid I.D.). From June 22 – August 26, guests can also learn more about the Syrian refugee crisis by visiting the Faces of Syrian Refugees exhibition at the Holocaust Museum Houston.
Houston Museum of African American Culture
At the Houston Museum of African American Culture, visitors can learn more about the African American experience. Seeking to engage guests of all backgrounds, the Houston Museum of African American Culture explores themes such as cultural interrelationships, empowerment, innovation, and much more.
General admission is always free for this museum. Frequent events are held at the museum that guests can attend as well. There are also tours and workshops available for those interested in learning more and getting engaged in the important conversation of equality and acceptance.
Asia Society Texas Center
Also located at Houston’s Museum District is the Asia Society Texas Center. The Asia Society promotes East-West understanding and interaction through the use of exhibitions, the arts, and community outreach. You can learn more about the Asia Society by browsing the upcoming events. Two of the current exhibitions include Zheng Chongbin: Clusters of Memory and FotoFest 2018 Biennial: India.
Admission to the building and Grand Hall exhibition is free. For those seeking to visit the Sarofim Gallery, admission is free for Asia Society members and $5 for nonmembers. The Asia Society Texas Center also offers several programs such as:
